Making History Come Alive
Partnering with the City of Maple Valley, King County Parks & Recreation Department, and the Maple Valley Historical Society, the Maple Valley Creative Arts Council (MVCAC) will make local and regional history stories interactive and publicly available through history gathering, recorded oral histories, digital virtual tours, and a public mural culminating in a 2021 community participatory event.
The 2021 event will consist of a new mural to be inspired by Maple Valley’s History. We know that history takes on incredible significance when framed within hands-on interactive experiences. A mandatory Paint By Tunnel design component will be paint-by-numbers areas to facilitate public participation during the one-day community event. Our current plan is to host the one-day community event late summer of 2021.
MVCAC will post a "Call for Designs" later this year. In the meantime, we will be working with the Maple Valley Historical Society to create documented oral histories and a set of digital images to be posted on this website during the "Call for Designs" phase to inform and inspire.
Stay tuned!
